I dress in what makes me feel most beautiful as an Indigenous Woman and I wanted to represent myself that way. As an artist and a low radar sign-painter my work became part of the representation regarding this battle in a 500+ year war we are fighting as Indigenous People.
I wore my Shimasani's (Great Grandmother's) Scarf, jewelry made by my Shi'ma (Sandra Lee), and my sash around my waist to stand PROUD and STRONG as an Indigenous woman. What I wear goes beyond fashion, it is who we are as a people.
Thank you @ Tori Duhaime for the Photograph that made it to Vogue.
